Even if Darren Aranofsky’s “The Wrestler” failed to get Mickey Rourke the much-coveted Oscar statuette, he is still riding high the waves of his impressive comeback. In fact, the actor is riding so high that he has just been cast in “Passion Plays” next to Megan Fox, one of the most gorgeous actresses in Hollywood at the moment, as EW informs.

As of now, not much is known of the upcoming project, other than that it’s an independent movie that will have the foxy Megan playing an angel, a part that suits her like a glove, as several movie-oriented e-zines are pointing out. As expected, she would be helping Mickey’s character find redemption, after he saves her from a terrible death, sources inform.

“Megan Fox has been cast in the indie drama ‘Passion Plays,’ starring Mickey Rourke (‘The Wrestler’). The ‘Transformers’ beauty will play an angel who helps a struggling musician (Rourke) find redemption in 1950s Los Angeles. Mitch Glazer (‘Scrooged,’ ‘The Recruit’) will direct from his own script.” the aforementioned publication reports. No release date has yet been set for the upcoming film, as neither has the rest of the cast been made public. However, insiders are telling, given the out-of-the-ordinary pairing of the two, other details should emerge soon enough.

Meanwhile, fans of Mickey Rourke will be seeing him in “Iron Man 2” as the villain that Robert Downey Jr.’s character must take down. Fox, on the other hand, will grace the cinema screen in “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and “Jennifer’s Body,” written by acclaimed screenwriter Diablo Cody.

Other rumors regarding Fox’s next projects also include a shot at the next installment of “Tomb Raider,” where the actress will be taking over Angelina Jolie in terms of Lara Croft's duties. While this rumor hasn’t been confirmed either, sources close to the production still say that, of all the actresses out there, Megan Fox is the first in line as far as producers are concerned. However, for more details on this, as well as on “Passion Plays,” keep an eye on this space.
