Nintendo's DS is getting Operation: Vietnam from Majesco Entertainment. The game is currently in development over at the Coyote Console studios, slated for a worldwide release sometime this fall. In Operation: Vietnam, gamers have to try and escape enemy territory, after they've been dropped into the war-torn jungles of Vietnam.

The story goes something like this: A chopper flight over the thick jungles of worn-torn Vietnam suddenly goes wrong as the transport is shot down deep inside Viet Cong territory. Surrounded by the enemy, fallen players must rally their squad and lead them back to safety. Along the way, they must also fend off repeated assaults while liberating oppressed villagers.

Operation: Vietnam includes the following features:

- gamers will use the DS's touchscreen abilities to issue commands, access inventory, view maps and select which squad member to control;

- use squad to combat multiple enemy types including: soldiers, tanks, turrets, enemy barracks, etc.;

- take advantage of different specialties of weapons per soldier: long range rifle, grenade launcher, automatic weapons, and more;

- flush out enemies with smoke grenades or take them out with fragmentation grenades.

"Operation: Vietnam packs the run-and-gun action found in popular arcade games into the Nintendo DS?," said John Merchant, Marketing Manager, Majesco Europe. "The squad-based gameplay and variety of missions create a fast-paced, exciting experience for gamers on the go."

This is all the information on the game so far. No release date, no nada, but you can see the MajescoEurope official website for more information on Operation: Vietnam and other Majesco-developed games.
