The country's newest mobile operator will be offering high-speed data services

Hutchinson Telecommunications International Limited (Hutchinson Telecom), leading global provider of telecommunication services has announced its further expansion and the launch of a new nation-wide mobile operator in Vietnam, HT Mobile. HT Mobile operates the leading CDMA 2000 1XEV-DO network in the country under an investment license granted to the Hutchinson Telecom- Hanoi Telecom partnership.

The mobile network project worth $656 million is a business cooperation contract with a duration of 15 years, under which the two sides aimed to develop a CDMA 2000 network for providing mobile services in Vietnam. The result of the partnership, Vietnam's newest mobile operator HT Mobile will be providing customers with advanced wireless voice, high-speed multimedia data services, flexible call plans and a wide choice of handsets. Along with this announcement, HT Mobile has also launched the first 2.4 Mbps wireless data card in Vietnam.

Dennis Lui, chief executive officer of Hutchison Telecom said: "Vietnam is one of the most vibrant and high growth economies in the world. HT Mobile's launch marks a significant step forward towards Hutchison Telecom's vision to achieve growth through investment in high potential markets."

Reportedly, Vietnam is the second fastest expanding telecom market in the world after China, therefore Hutchinson Telecom is very optimistic regarding the success of HT Mobile among Vietnamese customers.

"Vietnam has a young and technology-savvy population. The demand for value-added voice and high-speed multi-media data services is growing exponentially. Leveraging Hutchison Telecom's experience and resources in global procurement, content development as well as technology deployment, HT Mobile is well-positioned to become one of the fastest growing operators in Vietnam," concluded Mr Lui.
