She’s arguably one of the fittest entertainers of her age (and not only), but not even that saves Madonna from the occasional “fat day.” Sadly for her, her fat moment came as she was on the red carpet at The MET Costume Institute Gala Benefit.

Dressed in a body-hugging Stella McCartney blue gown with a stream of silver stars cascading down her back and onto her train, Madonna looked prettier than she had in years at the gala, the Daily Mail points out.

Still, even for her, there are moments when she’s plagued by self-doubt and, admittedly, one of these came precisely when she was talking to reporters on the red carpet.

“But it would seem the impeccably svelte and sculpted singer had been robbed of her red carpet confidence yesterday evening,” the tab writes.

Asked how she felt in the very feminine gown, “she told the assembled reporters: ‘I feel fat.’ according to celebrity website US Weekly,” the Mail claims.

Of course, Madonna could have been joking and it was taken out of context, but the admission still came as a shock nevertheless.

“Famed for her vigorously disciplined macrobiotic diet and intense fitness regimes, the 52-year-old mother of four left bystanders shaking their heads in disbelief at the singer’s surprise confession,” the British publication also notes.

The admission is even more shocking since it comes from Madonna, one of the few stars to have ever been name-dropped in the media for being too muscular and with too little body fat.

As we also reported a while back, partly responsible for the singer’s killer figure is celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson, who also worked with Gwyneth Paltrow and countless other Hollywood A-listers.

Word has it that Anderson places a lot of emphasis on intense workouts and a very low-calorie diet, which instantly leads to weight loss and good muscle definition – but she personally denied she ever encouraged Madonna to build such prominent muscles as she has now.

“I reversed the years Madonna spent getting bulky and made her more feminine, but I think she’s going back the other way now,” Anderson said shortly after she was quite unceremoniously dumped by the singer, who opted for her own customized workout routine.
