Electronic Arts has announced that it has decided on the athletes who will be featured on the cover of the upcoming Madden NFL 10 videogame, set to arrive on August 14. Electronic Arts is saying that the cover for this year's Madden is unique, mainly because it's the first time in the history of the franchise, which has been going for 21 years, when two players share the cover. Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu have been chosen by Electronic Arts because they are the best the National Football League has to offer in the offensive and the defensive departments.

Larry Fitzgerald is one of the two players featured on the cover of Madden NFL 10; they have been on the cover of the college franchise that is also published by Electronic Arts, the 2005 edition of NCAA Football. Fitzgerald is best known for leading his team, the Arizona Cardinals, to the XLIII edition of the Super Bowl.

Troy Polamalu is a key man in the defensive department of the Steelers and has won the Super Bowl on two occasions. He is a multi talented player who has the ability to go well on defense irrespective of the role that he is offered.

Anthony Stevenson, who is the senior product manager on Madden NFL, stated that “Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu are exemplary examples of the epic battle between offense and defense in the NFL. Madden NFL 10 showcases the Fight For Every Yard, and nobody fights harder than Troy and Larry, making them the perfect athletes to grace the cover.”

Madden NFL 10 is set to offer a new technology animation, called Pro-Tak, which is set to make the football game more realistic than ever. Steerable tackles are now possible, as are gang tackles that feature up to nine players. There are also more options for quarterbacks and a whole new level of authenticity that will surprise long time fans of the series.
