New Love Lips lipgloss: moisturizes, boosts your mood and makes you more attractive
New Love Lips lipgloss: moisturizes, boosts your mood and makes you more attractive

Since we’ve seen, so far, lipglosses that can do anything from testing for spiked drinks to suppressing appetite, it’s time for a lippy that does more: Love Lips not only keeps lips moisturized, but also makes the wearer more attractive.

The lippy is from a range called Weapons of Mass Seduction and will arrive in stores in the UK on February 14 – meaning, just in time for the gents to go out to buy it for their partner, lover or wife.

It claims to boost the mood and make the wearer more attractive because it relies on the same principle as a special type of fragrance: it has pheromones in it, the Daily Mail informs.

Alice Smellie of the Mail is testing the new product and, so far, she says it’s been working well for her. Though her husband is not “attracted to her like a bee to a flower,” he has a new habit of telling her that she looks good when he gets home.

Therefore, there is an improvement, she says, which means the lipgloss must be working.

“We’ve known for years that the addition of pheromones to scent can be used to influence the wearer of a perfume and those in close contact with them,” Shahena Ali, owner of the Powder Lounge Brow and Lash Bars, and the creator of Love Lips, tells the Mail.

Lisa Hipgrave, UK director of the International Fragrance Association, doesn’t agree: if one puts on lippy believing it will make her prettier, then she will immediately feel more attractive. It’s the placebo effect.

“If you feel confident, you are automatically more attractive,” Hipgrave says.

“However, this neutral-colored lipgloss contains more than just pheromones. Chemists have created an attraction cocktail, combining them with the neurochemicals oxytocin and copulin, both of which induce feelings of contentment and affection,” the Mail writes.

In other words, it will moisturize the lips, make you more attractive to men and boost your mood.

“The nasal passage is full of blood vessels as well as fragrance receptors. You are, in effect, inhaling neurochemicals directly into the bloodstream,” Dr. Chris Flower of the Cosmetic of the Toiletry and Perfumery Association says.
