More things will be part of the update, but not all have been revealed

Valve's support for it games continues, and with Team Fortress 2 being the last one to get some update news, it's now time for Left 4 Dead 2 fans to have something to cheer about. While it's still a few weeks away, Valve has announced the main features of the coming update, and it's a heavily gameplay-oriented one that does not just consist of bug fixes and tweaks. According to a post made on the official Left 4 Dead 2 blog, Valve said that Infected bots would be added and the auto-spawning in the Versus mode would be tinkered with.

The Infected bots won't be a constant presence, and are only meant to balance things out when the survivors prove to be too much of a die-hard bunch. The bots will "help out the Infected when they are down a man or two," the post explains, and "will also make 1v1 Versus a bit more fun." As far as the auto-spawning goes, this concerns the final events of the Versus mode, and the developer is considering the option of cutting them out of the game altogether.

Apparently, after some carefully made observations and stat charts put together, a single survivor has a pretty low chance of making out alive. "Across all finales in Left 4 Dead 2 currently, a single survivor has a 34.56% chance of escaping," the blog post reads. "That includes the Concert Finale in 'Dark Carnival,' which boasts close to a 50% escape rate (and yes, a fix for everyone's favorite cheese spot is coming). Remove the Concert Finale, and we see the average drop to 29.61%."

And while this makes things interesting, to put it mildly, as far as difficulty goes, and it does fit spot-on with the survival-horror part of the game, the other big aspect of it, the fun part, gets pretty ripped off with these chances. While running numbers might seem a bit boring, the developers explained that, with them, "We can measure the difference and see how much the change impacted the balance."

As an overall update, this would be pretty significant and a welcomed addition, but it looks like this won't be the end of this update. While nothing else was properly revealed by Valve, the post also teased us by saying that the above listing was "not a complete list by any means."
