14 DAY TRIAL // South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has announced today that it will introduce its latest mobile phones and that it will discuss its strategic direction for the ongoing year at CommunicAsia 2009 in Singapore. In addition, the company has also added that the new mobile phones that it will have on display come with its innovative new 3D S-Class User Interface.
The UI was introduced on the market along with the LG ARENA (LG-KM900) mobile phone, earlier this year. According to the phone maker, the LG ARENA, a multimedia centric handset, was sold in more than 300,000 units in the first four weeks after its introduction, which took place at the MWC show in Barcelona, in February.
The new handsets the company plans to release to the market with the S-Class UI are included in the Convergence, Style and Entertainment areas. The handsets are the LG-GM730, a Windows Mobile-powered smartphone, the LG-GD900 Crystal, the first phone in the world to feature a transparent keyboard, and the Viewty Smart (LG-GC900), which includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper.
“The new handsets LG will be showcasing at CommunicAsia 2009 are each designed to meet customer needs in different ways but all share our easy-to-use 3D S-Class User Interface,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “These top-of-the-line phones, like all of our devices, are based on insights from consumers. Turning customers’ ideas into reality is what we do well at LG and it’s emphasized in our theme at this event, ‘No Longer Just an Idea.’”
In addition, the company will also showcase the world’s first 3G Touch Watch Phone (LG-GD910), as well as the LG-GW550, a new smartphone that comes to the market with a QWERTY keypad and a series of business-oriented features. Other devices that the manufacturer will bring along include the LG-GM200, LG-GB230, LG-GB106 and LG-GB110, all of which feature built-in FM radios and speakers, as well as a solar-powered handset that sports recycled materials and soy-based inks.
