LG Optimus 3D, the world's first mobile phone to offer support for recording and playback of 3D content while on the go, is now available for pre-order in Australia on the airwaves of wireless carrier Optus.

The company managed to score an exclusive agreement with LG for the release of this device in the country, and is now offering users the possibility to reserve the handset for a later purchase.

The handset should become available for purchase as soon as July 4th, the carrier notes on its website. The company notes that all units pre-ordered before June 29th should be delivered to users by 4 July 2011.

Those who would like to reserve the device should know that pre-orders were opened only for online purchasers. Existing customers might find it difficult to reserve one of these devices at the moment.

“Powered by the Android mobile phone operating system the LG Optimus 3D has all the latest smartphone features including access to a large range of apps available from the Android Marketplace,” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

The LG Optimus 3D comes with dual 5-megapixel photo snappers on the back, with support for 3D video recording in HD resolution, as well as for the recording of 2D content.

“Combine this with the built in HDMI port and wireless DLNA capability and you can watch your 3D videos on your 3D TV,” the wireless carrier continues.

The mobile phone also comes with support for sharing content online via social networking sites, as well as for uploading 3D videos on the world’s first 3D channel on YouTube.

The handset will also provide users with increased performance capabilities, courtesy of a dual-core application processor, complemented by 1GB of RAM.

“The LG Optimus 3D mobile phone also features an impressive 'Tri-Dual' hardware set including a dual core 1GHz processor, dual channel RAM, and dual memory plus it includes 8GB of internal memory,” Optus notes.
