Mobile phone carrier AT&T is gearing up for the release of their first 3D-capable handset, the LG Thrill 4G, which should enable the carrier's customers to both record and playback 3D videos while on the go.

The new device is the operator's own flavor of LG Optimus 3D, which was unveiled to the world in January, and which has just started to arrive on shelves in Europe.

The new device sports a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display that delivers 3D content without the need of special glasses.

The mobile phone is set to arrive at AT&T later in summer with specific 3D content packed inside, such as 3D games, the Gameloft 3D Store, YouTube 3D, access to 3D movies from mSpot and more.

Users who would like to record their own 3D content can do so as well, courtesy of dual 5-megapixel photo snappers on the back.

“Featuring rear-facing dual five-megapixel stereoscopic 3D cameras, LG THRILL 4G gives users the ability to shoot 720p video in 3D and capture crystal clear stills,” AT&T explains.

“LG THRILL 4G also enables owners to capture high-quality 3D content with 3D video stabilization technology that automatically corrects for shake during recording. LG THRILL 4G also can easily convert 2D content, including images and videos, into 3D with the push of a button.”

Let's Golf 2, Asphalt 6 and NOVA are some of the 3D games the new mobile phone will include when released, while other titles will be made available for purchase via the Gameloft 3D Store.

The specifications list of the new mobile phone also includes a dual-core application processor, microSD memory card slot for expanding the available internal memory, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS receiver, and more.

The mobile phone runs under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, is DLNA capable, and comes with HDMI connection capabilities.

“LG THRILL 4G also has a front-facing camera and is the first from AT&T to come preloaded with the Qik video calling service for use over Wi-Fi,” the wireless carrier concludes.
