Mobile phone carrier AT&T is getting closer and closer to releasing its first 3D-capable smartphone, the Thrill 4G, which was announced last month as being on its way to the company's network soon.

The Thrill 4G is none other than LG's Optimus 3D smartphone, which was launched during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The LG Optimus 3D was already spotted at the Federal Communication Commission soon after AT&T's announcement, though with different 3G radios on board.

This time around, however, it seems that the actual Thrill 4G passed the FCC, and that it sports the necessary radios to connect to AT&T's network (via Pocketnow).

The smartphone that was spotted at FCC has the model number LG P920H, which suggests that it is indeed related to the Optimus 3D, which received approval as model number P920.

The smartphone is listed as packing support for 850 and 1900MHz bands for GSM, along with support for high-speed HSDPA/HSUPA communication.

When made available for purchase, the new device would become the very first 3D-capable smartphone on the US market, provided that AT&T actually manages to launch it before summer, when Sprint gets its own such handset, the HTC EVO 3D.

The AT&T Thrill 4G, aka LG Optimus 3D, arrives on shelves with a glasses-free large 3D display, while packing a dual-core application processor inside.

The mobile phone also comes with dual 5-megapixel photo snappers on the back, which enables the recording of 3D content in high definition (the phone can also record HD 2D content).

The mobile phone also comes with microSD memory card slot, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, the usual set of sensors, and more. The handset is based on Google's Android platform.

For the time being, AT&T did not offer specific info on when would the new mobile phone become available for purchase, but the FCC approval suggests that it might not be too long before that happens.
