LG just announced that it has decided to expand its line of Cinema 3D entertainment packages with the addition of two new complete kits that include an LG Cinema 3D HDTV, a Blu-ray Disc player and four pairs of LG’s lightweight 3D glasses.

The packages are available with either a 47-inch or a 54.6-inch 3D high definition TV set, both of these TV models relying on light, polarized 3D glasses for creating the stereoscopic effect that gives the impression of depth when looking at the screen.

The technology is very similar to the one used in movie theaters and doesn't require any sort of emitter or batteries.

Outside of this feature, LG's HDTVs also include support for local dimming to provide deeper blacks, TruMotion 120Hz refresh rates, and Picture Wizard II self-calibration.

As is usual the case with such high-end HDTVs, an intelligent sensor can be used to adjust the picture settings depending on ambient lighting and color conditions.

Both LG high definition TV sets pack a wide assortment of inputs, including three HDMI (two in back, one on the side), two component, and two composite.

“As more and more people seek to bring the 3D viewing experience into their homes, LG is offering them an easy-to-buy and even easier-to-enjoy 3D home entertainment package,” said Jay Vandenbree, senior vice president, home entertainment, LG Electronics USA.

“Our LG Cinema 3D entertainment packages are very attractive for retailers and consumers alike to bring the latest 3D movies and sporting events into your living room, delivering a theater-like, comfortable viewing experience and a superior 3D picture preferred by consumers,” concluded the company's rep.

The LG Cinema 3D entertainment package (model LW5300) are available now in 47- and 55-inch screen sizes with a suggested retail price of $1,399.99 and $1,899.99, respectively.
