Yesterday, South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics officially announced its latest Android-based flagship device, namely the LG G2, yet the company did not provide specific info on the price tag that this device will arrive on shelves with.

However, info on the matter has already emerged, suggesting that LG would have the smartphone priced at €599 / €629 ($799 / $840) in Europe, contract-free, a recent article on Ocaholic claims.

The handset will be released in both 16GB and 32GB flavors, and should prove more expensive than the Galaxy S4 flagship from Samsung, it seems.

However, the phone might be priced a little lower in the United States, PhoneArena suggests. According to the news site, the LG G2 could go for $599 / $629 (€448 / €470) off-contract in the country.

Nothing has been officially confirmed on the matter for the time being, but specific details on this should be provided in the not too distant future, given that LG has already confirmed the smartphone’s availability in Europe and North America in the coming weeks.

Considering the fact that the new device sports a Snapdragon 800 processor inside, which should deliver more performance capabilities than other flagship handsets, as well as a 5.2-inch full HD screen, it’s no surprise that it will cost more than Galaxy S4 or other similar devices.

LG G2 also arrives on shelves with 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, front camera for video calling, and the usual set of connectivity capabilities, including LTE-Advanced. The smartphone runs under Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system.

It should also be noted that, much to the disappointment of many enthusiasts, LG announced that it had no plans on making a Google Play Edition of the LG G2 available.

The mobile phone should start hitting shelves around the world before the end of August, so stay tuned to learn more on it.
