14 DAY TRIAL // South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has announced today that it plans to bring back on the market its highly popular Chocolate device, and that it is currently working on the development of the next-generation such handset. The decision to bring Chocolate back on the market comes from the fact that the device is the most successful mobile phone the company has come up with until now.
“We’re returning to an all-time favorite to re-create the original experience,” said Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Over 21 million Chocolate handsets have been sold across 54 countries to date and we believe the next generation Chocolate will have a tremendous impact on the market, extending the growth that LG experienced during the first half of this year.”
According to the company, the new mobile phone will be designed by the same team that created the original Chocolate. Moreover, it seems that the upcoming device is expected to feature a new design, meant to take advantage of the features packed inside the handset, as well as on the performance levels it would be able to offer to users.
The next-generation Chocolate should feature a minimalist-inspired style while also maximizing usability, LG says, adding that this is the fourth model in the LG Black Label Series. In case some of you might have forgotten, the original Chocolate phone was launched on the market back in May 2006, and the maker says that it has become its most popular handset since then.
The Chocolate was awarded the Red Dot Design and the iF Design awards in 2006, which came as a recognition of its design innovation. Besides this device, the company's Black Label Series also includes the LG Shine and the LG Secret, handsets also available in a wide range of markets around the globe. The new Chocolate should hit the shelves in August, the company says, while also adding that more details will become available in the meantime.
