LG Electronics announced today the availability of its LG Arena touchscreen mobile phone on the European market. According to the company, the handset seems to have seen a lot of traction since it was first unveiled back in February, and there are already over one million pre-orders for the device from different carriers all around the world.

As many of you might already know, the LG Arena is the first mobile phone from the company to feature Dolby Mobile technology while also being slated for global availability. The device is reported to be able to deliver a leveraged surround sound experience to users, while also providing them with video playing capabilities on the 3.0-inch WVGA screen it sports.

In addition to these capabilities, the LG Arena is also the first handset from the Korean mobile phone maker to include its new S-Class UI, which has been designed to enhance the user experience on the mobile device even more, taking advantage of Arena's touchscreen capabilities, while eliminating any unnecessary menus or navigation steps.

The user interface is based on a 3D cube layout, offering users four customizable home screens. All features are provided to them through the flipping of the cube. One unique feature that comes with the S-Class UI is the Elastic Lists, which eliminates the need of opening a new screen to view the choices available for an existing item. In addition, the interface also provides smooth 3D transitions between menus.

The new LG Arena also allows users to share their photos and videos on social networking sites, as it sports 3G capabilities, HSDPA 7.2 network support and Wi-Fi connectivity, along with an FM transmitter and 3.5 mm audio jack. More features of the device include support for Google Mobile Service, A-GPS and geo-tagging. The new handset will come in silver and black titanium and will become available for purchase in major European markets starting this month.
