LG Electronics, a worldwide leading mobile phone maker, unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona the new LG ARENA (LG-KM900), a multimedia phone that includes a full-load of features, able to deliver enhanced audio and video experience through its new and intuitive 3D S-Class User Interface (UI).

“What really makes ARENA special is its intuitive 3D S-Class UI, which is unlike anything that has appeared on a phone before,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, president & CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “We surveyed consumers and found that they were unhappy with current interfaces. They wanted a simple, fast and fun way to use multimedia and other features, but also an experience that was dynamic and interesting. We’ve done this so well with our brand new S-Class UI that it will set new standards for handsets in both functionality and fun.”

The intuitive 3D S-Class UI is launched along with ARENA but will be included in future handsets as well. It comes with touch-based 3D menus, offers icons for each choice, and delivers ease of use, allowing users to scroll through the menus with their fingers in the simplest manner. The new UI eliminates unnecessary steps from the menu, enhancing the advantages of the touchscreen. At the core of the interface there is a cube that can be rotated to offer access to all features. It can deliver up to four times more shortcuts than usual interfaces.

The new LG-KM900 comes with Elastic Lists, providing easier browsing through contacts and other information. The touched item stretches to deliver more info and options, which allows for time saving and makes it simpler to browse.

The LG ARENA also comes with powerful graphics, which can be especially enjoyed in the phone's Floating Image Gallery. Making different movements both with the device and with the fingers will allow the handset to display the photos in rows, in a cascade or according to a date criteria. In addition, the new phone also comes with impressive multimedia features, including a Dolby Mobile surround sound, built-in FM transmitter, 3.5 mm audio jack, a 3.0-inch full touchscreen display for great resolution, video recording capabilities, and 8GB of internal memory to store favorite music or video files.

The handset comes with a 5-megapixel camera, a micro SD slot for up to 32Gb of additional storage, 3G HSDPA 7.2 networks and Wi-Fi connectivity, A-GPS and geo-tagging, support for Google search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Blogs, as well as a sleek and refined metal body, measuring only 105.9 x 55.3 x 11.95 mm.

The handset will hit the European market in March and is expected to become available worldwide afterwards.
