AT&T has just announced that it will sell one of the three eReaders recently launched by Amazon, namely the Kindle Touch 3G.

Beginning next week, AT&T's customers will be able to purchase Amazon's Kindle Touch 3G for $149 (110 EUR). The e-Reader is only available in select AT&T retail stores for the same price offered by Amazon.

Although this is the first time that AT&T sells a Kindle e-Reader via its retail stores, the carrier expects from its customers to be loyal enough to walk to the nearest AT&T store and purchase the Kindle Touch 3G.

The new addition to the Kindle Family, the Touch 3G offers a 6-inch E Ink multi-touch display with proprietary waveform and font technology and support for 600 x 800 pixels resolution.

The Kindle Touch 3G is a convenient and affordable holiday gift for the reading enthusiast on your list. With the largest selection of today’s hottest books, customers will find the perfect book they’re looking for this year on the new Kindle Touch,” said Glenn Lurie, president, emerging devices, AT&T.

The Kindle Touch 3G is slightly lighter, and smaller than previous versions and offers a two-month battery life.

While connected over the AT&T mobile broadband network as well as Wi-Fi, Kindle Touch 3G users will be able to download books and periodicals in less than a minute.

According to AT&T, the 3G data connection does not require any monthly fees, data plans, or long term contracts.

Kindle Touch features global 3G coverage in over 100 countries and territories and provides access to more than 1,000,000 books, which is one of the largest selection of the most popular books.

According to Amazon, the e-Reader provides “integration with free 'Buy Once, Read Everywhere' Kindle apps for iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, Android, PC, Mac, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, and web browsers with Kindle Cloud Reader.”
