14 DAY TRIAL // AT&T has recently announced a special offering for the Amazon Kindle 3G, which is now available for only $139.
Amazon Kindle 3G was launched back in March for $189 without monthly wireless fees or annual contracts.
This is the second time that AT&T cuts the price of the e-reader, but the carrier does not mention if this is a time limited offer.
In addition, the carrier announced the new Kindle Textbook Rental feature, which allows students to save up to 80% off textbook list prices by renting from the Kindle Store.
The new feature offers the ability to customize rental periods to any length between 30 and 360 days, so any student that users the feature will be required to pay only for the specific amount of time they need a book.
“We’re making it convenient and affordable for all who read, including students to purchase a Kindle 3G with Special Offers by offering it in our stores,” said Glenn Lurie, president, emerging devices, AT&T.
With Amazon's Kindle 3G users will be able to connect to AT&T’s network as well as Wi-Fi, and wirelessly download books, magazines, newspapers, blogs and personal documents.
AT&T''s Kindle 3G provides users with free 3G wireless, without annual contracts or monthly fees, as well as all the features that helped make the third-generation Kindle one of the best selling e-reader in the world.
"And the savings extend beyond the purchase price of the device now that students can rent college text books at sharply reduced pricing, directly from Kindle. No lines, no waiting, and no heavy lifting. This should be an attractive option for all consumers," added Lurie.
The e-reader features a 6-inch paper-like Pearl electronic ink display, perfectly visible in bright sunlight and a lightweight body.
The Kindle 3G provides access to over 950,000 books via Kindle Store, which has one of the largest selection of popular books.
Seamless integration with free “Buy Once, Read Everywhere” Kindle apps for iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, Android, PC, Mac, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, HP TouchPad, is included as well.
