Kim Kardashian is a curvy girl: if there’s anyone out there who doesn’t know this by now, Kim herself will remind them once the latest issue of Shape magazine comes out at newsstands. Posing on the cover in purple two-piece swimsuit and rocking a six-pack, the star details her insecurities from earlier on and how her mother helped her overcome them, as The Sun informs.

Since a photo of her leaked online before being retouched, Kim has been weighing a tough battle against cellulite and the extra pounds. She started working out more, went on a diet and overall improved the quality of her life – and it shows, one might as well point out the obvious. Since becoming more toned and healthier, Kim has also turned into an ambassador of sorts for the idea that beauty can and does come in all shapes and sizes, which is also obvious in her more recent Shape interview.

For starters, the fashion designer, socialite, television personality and occasional model reveals that she was the first of her friends to grow breasts, a thought that, at the time, truly terrified her. Also then, she wished the growing part would stop: it didn’t, of course. Then, she realized that another thing she and her friends did not have in common was the shape of her body, with theirs being slender and thin, and hers more on the voluptuous side, with curves in all the right places.

For a while, Kim became depressed. “All my friends were super-skinny and that just wasn’t my body type. And I watched my mum, who was always comfortable with herself and she helped me with my outlook. I have curves and that’s never going to change, so I’d better start embracing them or I’m going to have a miserable life. It took me a while, but I finally caught on,” she explains of how she achieved the confidence she has now in her body.

However, her curves also come with a downside, the one thing 95 percent of all women in the world can’t get rid off: cellulite: “Just because I feel secure with my body doesn’t mean I think cellulite is cute! It will always be an issue for me. So let’s just say it’s a work in progress,” Kim says with determination.
