To say that Jennifer Lopez has curves and is proud of them is an understatement. The singer who once made headlines for taking out an insurance policy on her best asset, her backside, says in the latest issue of Marie Claire magazine, the UK version, that she’s not the one to diet or kill herself in the gym. Her secret is all in portion control – and knowing that a healthy relationship with your body is all about confidence.

JLo is now back on the big screen with the romcom “The Back-Up Plan,” in which she plays a single woman who decides to become a single mother, only then to find the man of her dreams. This is a scenario that she might have considered in real life, had she not met Marc Anthony to start a family with him, she tells Marie Claire. Still, what can’t but bring women around the world joy is Jennifer’s admission that she’s not killing herself with diets to have a killer body.

“I was always very comfortable with who I was. Confident,” she says of the media’s obsession with her body and her curves, which has been going on ever since she broke in the spotlight. “I’ve never looked at [my body] in a negative way. Just like anybody I try to watch what I eat – there’s no big science to it, which is what sucks,” Jennifer adds. Of course, that’s not to say that she stays in such extraordinary shape by simply doing nothing and just having confidence in her looks. When trying to lose weight, having a concrete goal is what helps her get the job done, for example.

“One of the good tricks is to have a goal – for me it may be getting in shape for a video shoot. The other is portion control. I love to eat everything and you pretty much can – a little piece of something fattening is not going to kill you. It’s when you eat the whole box that it’s going to kill you. If you can learn to not eat till your stomach feels full and gross, then you can pretty much control your life in that area,” the star explains.

On a previous occasion, we also noted that Jennifer also kept pretty active thanks to celebrity fitness trainer Gunnar Peterson, who’s behind the toned bodies of many stars. To maximize advantages and prevent Jennifer from becoming bored, Peterson mixes and matches elements from several workouts, including cardio, dancing, weight training and yoga.
