Killzone 3 developer Guerrilla Games is working hard with Sony to track down PlayStation 3 hackers and jailbreak users that want to exploit the online mode of the first-person shooter.

Killzone 3 is the latest and most important PlayStation 3 exclusive game, but this doesn't mean that it's been spared from the attack of PlayStation 3 hackers and jailbreak users.

We already saw the title be leaked onto torrent websites almost two weeks ago, so Guerrilla Games, its developer, has detailed some of the work it’s been doing in order to prevent the hackers and pirates from causing havoc in the game's multiplayer mode.

Steven Ter Heide, one of the studio's producers, has talked with CVG and revealed that the company is working closely with Sony to "aggressively" monitor the hackers and jailbreak users.

"The ability for one person to ruin people's games is not a good prospect obviously, so we're working with Sony on the moderation side," he said. "We're looking at people misbehaving, being able to follow reports against those so that's all been taken care of - and we're working with Sony to see, even more aggressively, what kind of things are happening."

Guerrilla is doing some active work, as the studio executive confirmed that the company was trying its best to patch up any and all vulnerabilities.

We already saw the first patch for the game be detailed, even if it's barely been two days since its release in North America.

"At the same time we have to step up as developers and say, 'OK what are the holes in our game, what is the data, can we analyse that and see where the problems might be?' We can look at the leaderboards and the stats that most people are playing with and say, 'This doesn't look right. Can we look into that and see what's happening?' That's the reality now, we have to keep patching the game to make sure we keep getting one over the hackers," Ter Heide added.

Killzone 3 is already on sale in the US, and will appear in Europe and the rest of the world tomorrow.
