Sony, as the publisher, and Guerrilla Games, as the developers, have announced that Joris de Man, the man who has written the score for Killzone 2, will be returning to score the new game in the series, crafting the soundtrack to one of the most dramatic and engaging experiences to arrive on the PlayStation 3 in 2011.

The soundtrack will be created at the well known Abbey Road Studios, where the Beatles worked for a good chunk of their career, even giving the name to one of their albums.

Joris de Man was widely recognized for his work on Killzone 2, mainly through the Best Original Video Game Score he received at the 55th edition of the Ivor Novello Awards, that are given away by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters.

Composer Joris de Man stated, "Winning the Ivor this year gave me such a boost because receiving was not just recognition for my work on the score, but being awarded it in its first year meant being part of a growing appreciation of game music in general. “

He went on to say, “The achievement spurred me on and has given me a new energy that I hope will be heard in the music I'm now writing for KILLZONE 3. I was thrilled to be invited again to work alongside the team at Guerrilla; they continue to push the limits of design and technology and I'm really proud to be a part of their next opus.”

Killzone 3 is one of the high profile PlayStation 3 exclusives that Sony plans to launch in 2011 in order to show off what the new three dimensional capabilities of its home console and the new possibilities for control brought on by the PlayStation Move motion tracking system, to be launched in September.

The game will follow in the footsteps of Killzone 2, with the player working alone on the surface of Helghast.
