Naughty Dog and Mass Media have confirmed the final release date for the upcoming Jak and Daxter HD Collection, which will be launched at the beginning of February exclusively on the PlayStation 3 console.

The Jak and Daxter franchise was created by studio Naughty Dog and entertained a wide variety of gamers back in the days of the PlayStation 2 console.

In order to get PS3 owners acquainted or re-acquainted with the series, the Mass Media studio was tasked with remastering the first three games, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II and Jak 3, in high definition, complete with enhanced textures, refined mechanics and a 720p graphics resolution.

After showcasing a few more details late last year, the two studios have now confirmed a release date for the Jak and Daxter HD Collection, which is going to be deployed in North America on February 7, for $39.99, and in Europe on February 22, for €39.99.

The Co-President of Naughty Dog, Evan Wells, also hyped up the trophy support in the new HD Collection, as each game will have special trophies created by the team at Mass Media.

“When the series debuted on PS2 over 10 years ago, we didn’t have Trophies,” Wells said. “For our jump to PS3, Mass Media crafted custom Trophies for you to earn for all three titles in the collection. The team at Mass Media has created intricate Trophies, each featuring a unique variation on a design theme based around its mission type. There are over 100 to collect including three Platinum Trophies, so you completionists will have hours of Trophy-hunting fun to look forward to.”

Players will have to complete various story objectives to unlock some of these trophies, as well as prove their skills in combat and exploration.

Will you pick up the Jak and Daxter HD Collection next month or are you going to wait until later this year to experience these classic games on the PS3?
