After a small confirmation earlier this month, Sony and Naughty Dog have officially presented the Jak and Daxter HD Collection, the upcoming special package that includes the first three games in the beloved PlayStation 2 series, remastered in HD for the PS3.

The PS2 saw a huge amount of great games released for it, many of which have now appeared on the more recent PlayStation 3, remastered in high definition and with extra features.

After the likes of the God of War or Sly Cooper collections, Sony and Naughty Dog have confirmed that a special Jak and Daxter HD Collection is coming in February 2012.

"The Jak and Daxter Collection features three of our favorite Jak and Daxter titles – Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II, and Jak 3 – all remastered by Mass Media, working closely with our team at Naughty Dog," said Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells.

"With the launch of Jak and Daxter Collection, you’ll be able to experience the adventures of Jak and his Daxter in 720p high definition with crisper visuals, smoother gameplay animation, and in full stereoscopic 3D. And, I’m sure all of you hardcore collectors will be happy to hear that each game in the trilogy features full PS3 trophy support," Wells added.

The Naughty Dog executive went on to say that the Jak and Daxter titles set benchmarks for platformers on the PlayStation 2 many years ago and even holds some special Guinness World Records, including one for the first seamless 3D world in a console game.

In order to properly mark the announcement of the new collection, Naughty Dog and Sony have also deployed quite a lot of screenshots and even a video to help you see the classic Jak and Daxter titles remastered in high definition for the PlayStation 3, which you can enjoy below.
