The developer working at Eidos Montreal on the upcoming Deus Ex: Human Revolution have released more information about how augmentations will be used in their title, detailing the load out that the main character, Adam Jensen, will be starting the single player story equipped with.

The main character will begin his story, which involves, in traditional Deus Ex fashion, conspiracies and quite a bit of backstabbing, with the augmentations: Single Takedown, Identification Friends or Foe, Retinal Prosthesis, Basic Hacking and Infolink.

The developers have also restated that, because augmentations are in this prequel mechanical in nature, there's no way to swap them in and out, with players needing to pay special attention to what they chose and what the impact on gameplay will be, encouraging them to play through the new Deus Ex more than one time.

The people working at Eidos Montreal also talked about one of the most interesting augmentations, called the Icarus Landing System, saying it will be “implanted in the user's lower back, slightly above the coccyx at the base of the vertebral column. The device has an accelerative descent sensor built in; in freefall, the unit will automatically activate the patented High-Fall Safeguard System, an EMF decelerator generating a fixed-focus electromagnetic lensing field, projected downward along the plane of the drop. This field pushes against the Earth's magnetosphere and slows the user's descent to a manageable velocity.”

Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be very focused on the hacking element, with a mini game which will evolve based on the augmentations that the player chooses and on other actions he takes in the game world, introducing risks and possible rewards to keep it interesting as the game progresses.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be released on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the PC with the official date now set for March 8, 2011.
