Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a video game which bears the heavy burden of expectations, with fans of the first title in the series hoping for a return to its ideas and mechanics, and the developers need to be very careful in balancing innovation with clear call backs to the past.

And now the people at the developer Eidos Montreal have offered a number of answers to the questions that fans might have related to how the series has evolved and what they can expect in the new release.

The developers are making it clear that the new Deus Ex will make sure that the choices that the player can make to push the story forward are not clearly presented to the player, with exploration, hacking, reactions to events and player approach making all having an impact on exactly how the story will unfold.

The game creators say, “We didn't want to make a game where all the choices are telegraphed because it makes the choice more often than not based on how you want to boost your character as opposed as being immersed in the fantasy of the game. It's definitely more subtle than a lot of games.”

They also talked about including newspapers, eBooks and more in order to offer more, optional, information on the game world but unfortunately the hackable ATMS are no longer present in the game because of lack of time.

The developers also justified the elimination of multitools and lockpicks, saying that they needed to be cut so that Deus Ex: Human Revolution could offer a deeper hacking mini game which could convey the complexity of getting into a restricted computer terminal.

On the bright side players will be able to holster their weapons, saying “Who would chat with someone pointing a gun on our head?”

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is set to arrive on March 8, 2011 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
