It seems that Gigabyte is not the only company making use of its multitasking capabilities, as I-O Data is now revealed to be working on, besides portable HDDs, a new liquid crystal display monitor.

It would seem that companies are well in the habit of working on multiple fields at the very same time nowadays.

Gigabyte, for instance, is preparing a custom AMD Radeon HD 6950 video card while also gearing up to unleash two new 80Plus Silver power supplies.

Meanwhile, I-O Data has detailed its newest additions to the HDPC-U portable hard disk drive series, namely three 750 GB models, while also preparing a monitor.

The display in question is called LCD-MF271XSBR and, as one may or may not guess from the name, has a diagonal length of 27 inches.

As one might expect, the screen's native resolution is of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, meaning that any and all Full HD media is supported, plus games in high graphics settings (naturally).

That said, the contrast ratio is of 1,000:1, the static one at least, while the DCR (Dynamic Contrast Ratio) is of 30,000:1.

What's more, the response time is of 5ms, or 2ms via OverDrive, while the brightness is of 330 cd/m2.

I-O Data also used a processor developed by Renesas in order to grant its latest creation the benefits of the Super Resolution Image technology.

Other specifications include a pair of 1.5W speakers, a D-Sub port, a DVI connector and, of course, an HDMI input.

Japan should receive this product, I-O Data LCD-MF271XSBR, in early February, when it will start selling for the price of $423. Meanwhile, those interested will have to make do with the data available on the official website.

What remains to be seen, of course, is how it fares against all other liquid crystal displays located in the same price range.
