For a while now, it was a well-known fact that AMD would release versions of its 6000 series cards with less memory, and Gigabyte seems poised to be one of the next manufacturers to deliver its own.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti is drawing even closer, as proven by how MSI and PNY both have versions of it up for pre-order.

This will be the first mainstream 500 board form the Santa Clara, California-based company and will be officially launched before the month is out.

Some time ago, reports even said that its performance would be around the same level as the one managed by AMD's Radeon HD 6950.

Regardless, Advanced Micro Devices decided to provide versions of its 6000 series adapters that, to strike a lower price point, have less memory.

Thus it was that Radeon HD 6950 and HD 6970 models with just 1 GB of memory were devised, like the one from HIS.

Now, Gigabyte has also joined the ranks of those who will, sooner rather than later, sell this sort of video controller.

Naturally, the newcomer, dubbed GV-R695OC-1GD, utilizes the Cayman GPU (graphics processing unit) based on the 40nm process.

Said GPU has an operating clock speed of 870 MHz, while the VRAM works at 5,000 MHz. There is also mention of 1,408 Stream Processors, as well as of a memory interface of 256 bits.

Additionally, Gigabyte implemented the Ultra Durable design, which includes solid caps and a 2oz copper PCB (printed circuit board), for extra stability and lifespan.

Finally, in order to disperse whatever heat is generated, the outfit threw in the WindForce 3X cooler, with three fans, while connectivity is ensured by dual-DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.

Those interested in the newcomers need only drop by this page, although the price has still not been given.
