Hideo Kojima is one of the most respected video game designers in Japan, being the mastermind behind the hugely successful and influential Metal Gear Solid franchise from Konami. He has enchanted fans all around the world with the unique stealth gameplay in the series but also with the intense cinematic experience that was included in every single title.

Now, with his company, Kojima Productions, working on two full-fledged titles in the saga, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, which will cover the character Raiden and which is set to arrive on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, to appear on the PSP, the famous designer wanted to set a few things straight.

For this, he addressed an open letter to fans in the latest issue of Konami's internal magazine On Screen, which was handed out to fans at last week's GamesCon, in Cologne, Germany. He talked at large about Peace Walker and how, even though it would appear on the PSP, it would be a full-featured sequel filled with content that will “require hundreds of hours to complete.”

“The main team from MGS4 is participating in the development of this title and I am involved in all aspects of the game, ranging from design, direction and scenario writing,” Kojima revealed in the open letter. He then continued by saying that the game would be set ten years after the events in MGS 3, in Costa Rica, as Snake and his crew would start questioning their purpose and battle to defend a nation from an invading force.

Graphics were then discussed, Kojima saying that, “Despite being on the PSP, we don't plan on making any compromises with the graphics. The art team is used to producing PS3-level quality and the results will make you wonder if this is really a PSP game.”

Overall, Peace Walker is shaping up quite nicely and will definitely be a must have title for many PSP owners and for almost all of the MGS fans out there. Watch out for it next year from Konami and Kojima productions.
