There are certainly many video game franchises out there, many having the background story set in some very complicated universes, filled with intrigue, many characters and huge conflicts that give the respective games even more popularity.

One such example is the Metal Gear Solid franchise, which is the brainchild of Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima and has already seen plenty of iterations published by Konami. The saga of titles began many years ago and is still seeing some vital developments in the form of upcoming titles like Metal Gear Solid: Rising, which will arrive on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which will be heading to the PlayStation Portable system.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Kojima revealed a few of the challenges he met over the years while working on the complicated saga and adding new things, characters and stories while the games and the technology to set them into motion progressed. He also admitted that even he found everything a bit confusing from time to time.

“I personally get confused too about the whole timeline and saga of Metal Gear Solid,” Kojima told Eurogamer. He continued by saying, “This is especially tricky when you create the future first and then go back in time to create something new. There are a lot of small aspects where sometimes it doesn't match completely.”

While there are certainly many dedicated fans who know everything about Solid Snake and all of the adventures he went through, many gamers, especially those who didn't own PlayStation consoles, are still left scratching their heads and don't even try to comprehend what Kojima is talking about in his epic games, instead enjoying the lengthy cutscenes and the stealth gameplay, which he does best.
