Lately, it seems like every other panel manufacturer out there has a large screen 3D display to showcase, the Tokyo-based electronics company Hibino just displaying today two interesting new LED-based screens, the massive 280 inch ChromaLED 3D6 as well as the more “mundane” 74-inch ChromaLED 3D4.

Starting with the impressive 280 inch ChromaLED 3D6, this panel is actually made up of a series of LED 3D units which are sized at 38 inches each, and deliver 730cd/m2 brightness.

Joined together, these form one of the largest 3D screen available right now, although Hibino states they can produce systems double this size, if there is enough demand for them.

As impressive as it may sound, Hibino solution does have a drawback as the ChromaLED 3D6 is limited to a rather low 1024x576 resolution, making these panel well suited for advertising duty or other uses that don't require a high resolution panel.

During the same press conference, that took place in Tokio, the company also showcased the 74-inch ChromaLED 3D4 screen, this using a smaller pitch compared to its bigger brother (4mm vs. 8mm in the 3D6), although this pretty much uses the same design approach that makes use of multiple LED 3D units in order to form a bigger screen.

This time however, the resulting 74-inch panel has to make do with LED units that aren't as bright as those of the ChromaLED 3D4, featuring only 510cd/m2 of brightness.

The differences end here however, both displays featuring a button that switches between 2D and 3D modes, for the 3D effect to be perceived users being required to wear glasses.

According to Hibino, both of these systems can be ordered starting today, although we don't know how much would one of these set you back as the company didn't release any info regarding pricing. (via CrunchGear)
