First to be launched in Japan

Unlike other situations when rumors about handsets to appear would be on every site and discussion board, there's no case of leaking information regarding the HTC Neon. Labeled by the FCC as "Neon 100", the new handset is more than surely another HTC Touch variant. Or at least we are more than sure that's the case here, by looking at the image in the label.

Information about this model is scarce, but somehow the word got out on the Internet that it might be subjected to a release on the Japanese DoCoMo's network. This seems to be very likely given the fact that our little "stranger" just cleared Japan's cellphone certification process.

Other than the fact that it will come with a touchscreen display, as any other respectful smartphone would do these days, information about the Neon 100 model is very rare and precious. This way, we know that the device is powered by a lithium-ion battery, but almost every portable device is nowadays, and WCDMA Band V support, North America's version of WCDMA on the 850MHz band, used by 3G networks, versus Japan's Band VI. The point of this specification is to draw the attention on the fact that maybe, not to say surely, this handset is not destined for the United States, unless they work out a miracle and succeed to move the US in Japan.

Japan seems to be the first to put its hands on the Neon 100, as for the US, the future of an HDSPA HTC Touch is still very uncertain.

Patience is not much of a virtue these days, but more like a way of losing money; unfortunately, we can't do anything else about this, until HTC decides to give us a little scooby snack, and tell us more about the release and functions of their latest mobile device.
