Leading Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has just announced the upcoming availability of its HTC Salsa smartphone on the market in Hong Kong.

The new device comes with enhanced social networking capabilities, as well as with HTC's Sense user interface, and with fast access to Facebook, for uploading photos or videos, or for updating statuses.

The handset was unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and comes with a dedicated Facebook button so that users can enjoy one-touch access to the social networking site.

Users will enjoy a series of Facebook services that were integrated into the much-praised HTC Sense user interface.

“The new HTC Salsa offers a new unique way to experience Facebook on a mobile device to communicate with your circle of friends on a brand new level,” said Terry Chung, country manager of HTC Hong Kong and Macau.

“With increasing active users, Facebook has become synonymous with the social web and we wanted to create the ultimate socially connected phone with mass market appeal.”

The smartphone comes to the market with a 3.4-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 480 x 320 pixels resolution, and sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

The handset runs under Google's Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 operating system, and offers support for Google Mobile services, as well as for applications and games available via the Android Market.

The specifications list of the new handset also includes WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, built-in GPS receiver, a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, 3.5mm headphone jack, and the like.

And there is also the aforementioned Facebook button, which was designed to be context-aware, so that users can easily share content or updates on the social media destination.

“With a single press of the button, you can update your status, upload a photo, share a Website, post what song you are listening to, ‘check in’ to a location and more,” HTC explains.

“For example, you can take a photograph of friends on your phone and upload it instantly to Facebook by simply pressing the button. Or let your friends know what song you’re listening to by pressing the button while listening to music on the phone. The track is automatically identified and shared on Facebook.”
