Today, mobile phone carrier Sprint added to its lineup a new Android-based mobile phone, the HTC EVO 3D, which comes with a brand new feature for the United States smartphone market, namely support for recording and playback of 3D content.

This is one of the most anticipated handsets of the ongoing year, now for sale at the wireless operator for $199.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement.

The glasses-free 3D phone was made available for purchase around the country now only via Sprint stores, but also through Sprint Business Direct Sales, Telesales, online on the carrier's website, as well as via RadioShack and Best Buy stores.

“HTC EVO 3D brings to life a visual experience that comes alive in front of the viewers’ eyes and offers crisp, clear pictures on the large display that showcases yet another new innovation from Sprint,” Fared Adib, vice president – Product Development, Sprint, said.

“We’re looking forward to seeing our customers’ reactions to the glasses-free 3D experience when they get their hands on these exciting new devices today.”

The new mobile phone sports a large 4.3-inch, qHD 3D display, complemented by a 1.2GHz application processor, a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core, and 1GB of RAM.

The specifications list of this mobile phone also includes dual 5-megapixel cameras on the back, which can capture high-quality 3D images and videos, as well as for the recording of 2D content.

The handset also comes with support for WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, microSD card slot for additional storage space, 3.5mm headphone jack, and with support for various mobile services and applications.

Users interested in the purchase of the new HTC EVO 3D should commit to a Sprint Everything Data plans, to which they need to add a $10 Premium Data add-on charge for smartphones.

“Sprint’s Everything Data plan with Any Mobile, Anytime includes unlimited web, texting and calling to and from any mobile in America while on the Sprint Network, starting at just $69.99 per month plus required $10 Premium Data add-on charge,” the wireless carrier notes.

On HTC EVO 3D, users can also enjoy a Mobile Hotspot option (through which they can share the connection with WiFi-enabled devices) for an additional $29.99 per month.
