Leading retailer Best Buy has made HTC's first ever tablet PC, the HTC Flyer, available for pre-order in the United States. The tablet PC was known to be on its way to the retailer, which promised pre-order availability for it since April 25th, but which delayed the making the move for a while, it seems.

However, the Android-based tablet PC is now available for reservations at Best Buy, featuring a price tag of $499.99, contract free.

As can be seen in the screenshot attached to this article as well, the new device is expected to arrive in users' hands sometime in late May. Best Buy's website mentions 22nd-27th of the month.

The HTC Flyer might not be the most appealing device on the market, and it also arrives a little late to the party, but it still is an impressive device.

Those who are willing to spend $499 for it will receive a 7-inch tablet PC that packs a 1.5GHz application processor inside, along with 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSDHC card slot so that users can expand the available storage space even more.

Moreover, the device comes with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with video recording capabilities, and with a 1.3MP camera on the front, for video calling.

It also includes WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity options, as well as Bluetooth capabilities, 3.5mm headphone jack, and built-in GPS receiver.

“This tablet features wireless LAN networking for connecting to the Internet without wires and Bluetooth 3.0 capability for hands-free operation when paired with a Bluetooth-capable wireless headset (not included),” Best Buy explains on its website.

The HTC Flyer was launched on the market with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board, but the handset vendor already promised that an update to Honeycomb will arrive on the tablet PC in the near future.
