Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is hard at work with the release of a new version of the HTC EVO 3D, one that would be fit for use in Europe, and more confirmation on its existence has just emerged.

The HTC EVO 3D was unveiled last week at CTIA Wireless as headed for Sprint's airwaves in the United States. The phone was said to pack CDMA and WiMAX connectivity.

Previously, the handset vendor announced the launch of a GSM flavor of the device for the market in Europe, but denied the move soon afterwards, stating that it posted the announcement in error.

However, it seems that the GSM mobile phone is as real as it can be, as HTC France confirmed its existence via a recent tweet.

A rough translation of the message (via Pocketnow) would read: “You want an HTC EVO 3D for France? So do we! It'll keep the same name, too. Release date has yet to be confirmed.”

The tweet emerged only a few days after the mobile phone made an appearance at online retailers, being listed as available for preorder with a price tag of $699.99 attached to it.

Nothing was officially confirmed on the launch of this handset, but rumor has it that it might become available for purchase sometime in the second quarter of the ongoing year.

What should be noted is that the new mobile phone would arrive on shelves in France, and, most probably, Europe, with the same name as the US variant.

While it would trade CDMA/WiMAX connectivity with GSM radios, the handset is expected to include the same 3D capabilities as the original version.

The HTC EVO 3D is the first smartphone from HTC to come to the market with support for 3D content, though it is not the first device in the world to sport the feature. Stay tuned for more on this matter.
