Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has proved she can carry a tune, thanks to her role as a washed-up country singer in the film “Country Strong.” Now, she will try and show the world she can sell music albums as well, as negotiations for her debut album are close to coming to an end.

PageSix has learned that Gwyneth has been talking to music executives about the possibility of landing a record deal and, as it turns out, all that talk has not been in vain.

In fact, she’s close to signing on the dotted line and starting work on her debut music album, which will be, as expected, a country material.

“Gwyneth Paltrow, who’s been shopping for a music deal, is in advanced talks with Atlantic Records, PageSix has learned,” the publication writes of negotiations with the Warner Music-owned label.

Other artists signed to Atlantic Records are Phil Collins, Kid Rock, B.o.B, T.I. and James Blunt, among many others, so Gwyneth would be in excellent company, as they say.

“Gwyneth’s agents have been talking to a number of labels about landing her a substantial record deal. Those who have heard the music say it’s country pop,” an insider tells PageSix.

Still, it wasn’t without some difficulty that Paltrow landed the deal – and her reputation as an accomplished actress actually worked against her.

“Many labels would be reluctant to give a deal to a star whose first priority is film, but in recent weeks there have been discussions with Atlantic,” says the same insider.

“Gwyneth is a very different name for Atlantic, and one who brings a lot of recognition,” the spy adds.

So far, Gwyneth has also shown that she can perform live: aside from two very successful appearances on the hit show “Glee,” she’s also performed at the Country Music Awards, the Grammys and the Oscars, actually the biggest events in the industry.

As of now, no word yet on when the album might come out – but rest assured you’ll find out more about it here when the time comes.
