When it was announced that Gwyneth Paltrow would be joining the “Glee” cast for a special episode, Gleeks weren’t really that impressed, as neither were celebrity bloggers – since, until then, the actress hadn’t proved she could actually sing.

Since then, Paltrow has recorded the songs for the episode and, to no one’s surprise, bits from them have already emerged online – and the “Umbrella” – “Singin’ in the Rain” mashup is getting fans quite excited.

Now, the world is no longer indifferent to Gwyneth. Even more, people have started talking about how she could actually save the season of the still-immensely popular show, which has reached its lowest points yet this season, as is the case with all great shows.

Not only does this Oscar-winning actress have an excellent voice, but she also has the charisma and winning personality to bring in the big ratings for the show, thus bring back “Glee” on the map in terms of huge ratings.

“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy definitely hopes so, singing Gwyneth’s praises in a recent interview with MTV UK: regardless of what people may believe, she can sing AND dance, she’s the ultimate pro.

“She had to sort of stamp around with Matt [Morrison] and the kids in a full tank of water for 12 hours,” Murphy says in a recent interview cited by MTV.

“She loved it, actually. She’s just the best. She’s the easiest, breeziest girl around – she’s such a professional. She was so prepared, she worked so hard,” the show’s creator adds.

As we also noted the other day, while she’s new at the whole singing thing, this is not the first time that Gwyneth proves herself to an audience: this week, she made her country debut at the prestigious Country Music Association Awards 2010.

Though clearly wrecked with nerves, the star stood her ground in what was her first live performance ever, not missing a single beat – and making fellow singer Vince Gill, there to help her with her debut, somewhat redundant.

Below is one of the songs Gwyneth recorded for “Glee,” the mashup between Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and the classic “Singin’ in the Rain.”
