Well of course, it's the first thing you do when you know the sequel is on the way

With StarCraft II on the way (but not this year unfortunately), fans of the genre and of Blizzard's work have knocked EB Games,' Gamestop's and Amazon.com's doors down, to get themselves a copy of the old StarCraft RTS game for the P. Some have probably acquired it once more to train for the upcoming beta stage "for an unspecific Blizzard release," or just to remember the good old days, knowing that a better installment is on the way.

Here's the situation over at EB Games and Amazon.com, as 1UP posts:

EB Games/GameStop (PC Games) StarCraft Battle Chest Halo 2 UFO Extraterrestrials Rise of Nations Freestyle Street Basketball Lord of the Rings Online

Amazon.com (PC Games) 1. Nancy Drew: The White Wolf of Icicle Creek 2. The Sims 2 3. World of Warcaft: The Burning Crusade 4. World of Warcraft 5. Halo 2 ... 19.StarCraft Battle Chest

As you can see, Amazon has it listed on the 19's most requested titles in their charts, while EB Games has the StarCraft Battle Chest in pole position. Maybe there are more RTS fans nearby its stores... Don't be surprised at this. An addicted gamer of any title and genre will most likely want to play the latest installment (or even previous ones) knowing that a sequel is on the way from the developer.

I know this because I feel the same with the Tomb Raider series. Just as soon as Legends was announced, I started playing TR II once more. I'd skipped the first installment, having gotten TR II and World Cup '98 with my first PlayStation console back in 1998. Now that Anniversary has already launched for the PC, I'm still playing Legends on my PS2, being a faithful fan of the console. Luckily, I'm getting Anniversary for myself today.

So by all means, get your old Starcraft again and start sharpening those strategy skills once more. Who knows, maybe you'll even take part in the Beta, if Blizzard has it in mind for Starcraft II of course.
