MTV Games and Harmonix, the two companies behind the success of the Rock Band franchise, have announced that they are ready to release five new tracks from Alice in Chains for their music titles during the course of this week. The new pack will be available for those who play Rock Band on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Nintendo Wii.

The five new tracks offered from the legendary grunge metal band are: “Grind;” “Heaven Beside You;” “Last of My Kind;” “We Die Young” and “Your Decision.” Harmonix says that all the tracks are created from master recordings of the song and points out that two of the tracks offered to players are taken from “Black Gives Way to Blue,” the new album Alice in Chains released in September 2009 after more than 14 years of absence from the music scene.

The band is best known as part of the grunge wave that swept music in the early years of the 1990's and for the tragic death of lead singer Layne Staley, who had always had problems with substance abuse.

Those who are playing Rock Band on the Xbox 360 can pick up the five tracks later today, by paying 160 Microsoft Points for each song or 680 Microsoft Points for the entire pack. On the PlayStation 3, the songs will be arriving for 1.99 each, while the entire Alice in Chains pack costs 8.49 dollars. On the Nintendo Wii, all the tracks sell for 200 Wii Points.

Harmonix is saying that there are now 1,046 songs players can get from the Rock Band Store and then experience at home and that during the more than two years since it was launched, the service has sold more than 60 million tracks. The company plans to continue releasing weekly track packs all through 2010.
