14 DAY TRIAL // After a long (too long, if one asks fans) break from the music industry, Christina Aguilera is about to make a comeback with her summer release, “Bionic.” A first single off it has been out for weeks, “Not Myself Tonight,” and it’s about to get an official video as well, come this Friday. Until then, we have a 10-second teaser of it – and it seems to hold the promise of controversy, as AceShowbiz can confirm.
As of recently, Christina has released both a promo photo and a 10-second teaser for the upcoming video and, if getting people talking about it was what the artist was aiming for, she was right on the mark. Talk on the blogosphere is that the video will undoubtedly be a controversial one since it will show Christina dancing provocatively in what looks like a church. Comparisons with Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” video seem almost natural right now, but only based on the teaser, some say.
“We now have a clip of the ‘Not Myself Tonight’ video to share with you all. Send to your friends and embed on all your favorite sites. Who’s getting excited for Friday’s premiere on VEVO?!” a post on the singer’s official website reads. Judging by how fans and the media are reacting to this teaser, it’s safe to say that the entire world is terribly excited and can hardly wait to see what Christina has been working on for these past months.
A preview of that fans also got when Aguilera spoke of the album “Bionic” for the first time at the beginning of the month. In her own words, the material is the next logical step in her evolution as an artist, which means it combines her unique vocals with influences from current music and from her personal life, which has been so profoundly marked by becoming a mother. However, fans are not to see “Bionic” as a departure from the Aguilera sound but rather as progress, artistic growth.
“Each album I release is a representation of my personal life experiences and how they have shaped me. […] I have become a mother, a wife, and most recently an actress. All of these new experiences have allowed me to face new challenges and explore different sides of myself I did not even know existed. To capture all of these characteristics I chose to collaborate with a variety of artists and producers across different musical genres. […] It also allowed me to push personal boundaries and explore what is possible for my future and me as an artist. You will find on this album songs that represent the many sides of me. I have learned that like all women I am sometimes capable of being superhuman. Like all women I am BIONIC…” Christina said of “Bionic,” as we also reported at the time.
