Christina Aguilera is preparing for the release of her fourth studio material, an album she called “Bionic” and that will arrive in music stores in June this year, as fans must already know. Having already introduced her first single off it, a club anthem named “Not Myself Tonight,” the singer has recently taken to her official webpage to deliver a very special message to her fans: a description of the upcoming album in her own words.

Christina starts her letter to her fans by explaining her long absence from the music scene. Of course, the entire world knows that she took some time away from recording to start a family and be more of a stay-at-home mother to her son, but perhaps there still are people out there who don’t know that Aguilera is also eyeing a career in feature films. “Burlesque” drops in theaters this year, she says. That and the release of “Bionic” will certainly make of 2010 a very eventful year.

“Each album I release is a representation of my personal life experiences and how they have shaped me. I strongly believe that life is all about growth, self-discovery and self-expression. Making music allows me to define my experiences and share them with others who might hopefully relate. Over the past four years I have learned a lot about myself and what I am capable of. What all women are capable of. Since the release of my last studio album, Back to Basics, I have become a mother, a wife, and most recently an actress. All of these new experiences have allowed me to face new challenges and explore different sides of myself I did not even know existed,” Christina says of the making of “Bionic.”

Having so many responsibilities, Christina says she sees herself as a woman whose essence is hard to sum up in a single word – and the same goes for her upcoming album, whose sound is somewhat difficult to define. “To capture all of these characteristics I chose to collaborate with a variety of artists and producers across different musical genres. […] It also allowed me to push personal boundaries and explore what is possible for my future and me as an artist. You will find on this album songs that represent the many sides of me. I have learned that like all women I am sometimes capable of being superhuman. Like all women I am BIONIC…” the singer writes.

The message ends with the promise of a tour, which, again, can’t come but as excellent news for the fans. Furthermore, a new official website should be launched soon, offering the chance for the millions of fans to interact on everything Christina, and even to make contact with the singer herself. All in all, 2010 will be a very interesting year, Aguilera promises.
