Coming as part of The Pitt

The consensus amongst Fallout 3 fans seems to be that Operation: Anchorage, the first piece of downloadable content for the Bethesda developed and published role playing open world game has been a bit of a disappointment. It's not that it was a bad instance but it emphasized combat, which is one section of Fallout 3 that is not as strong as it could have been.

The second piece of DLC, called The Pitt, which is set to arrive, after a short delay, in March, will apparently be rather set on offering a nice role playing experience with a dose of significant moral choices. But one of the most interesting bits of information in a recent Bethesda press release is still the mention of a new weapon: the Auto Axe.

As seen in the screenshot attached to this article, the Auto Axe seems even cooler than the flaming sword you could wield in the original release of the game. Bethesda says that the Auto Axe is “a new melee weapon with a powerful, serrated rotary blade hungry for flesh.” The only real question now is whether the weapon will be offered already built or whether the players will have to go on a quest to get the parts needed to create it. The latter variant could be more interesting, as it would instill a sense of fulfillment, as players use a crafted weapon to slice through enemies.

In The Pitt, players will receive a distress signal that invites them to visit post apocalyptic Pittsburgh. There, they will have to investigate reports of a cure for mutants, while also choosing to join either the Downtown gangs of slavers or the Haven communities of ordinary people.

Fallout 3 is set to receive another piece of DLC, called Broken Steel, in April. This new piece of content is set to allow players to continue after the end of the main quest, while also increasing the level cap from 20 to 30.
