RPGs (Role Playing Games) have seen a massive increase in popularity these days as more and more high quality titles have graced its ranks. Among the newest ones, Bethesda's Fallout 3 has been one of the most successful, and, in the mind of quite a lot of gaming industry analysts and critics, the best game of 2008.

The fact that you could explore a war-torn United States almost obliterated by a nuclear battle attracted a lot of players to buy the game. Although it offered a very long experience, Bethesda already launched the first DLC (Downloadable Content), entitled Operation: Anchorage, which expanded the player's possibilities.

Now, as the dust has barely settled on the Anchorage adventures, the Official Xbox Magazine has released the first details on the second DLC pack, entitled The Pitt. The new adventures will take place in the city of Pittsburgh, focusing on the district harboring the industrial plants. The preview of the magazine states that the ravaged Pittsburgh is “stunning dystopia that's unlike any other area in Fallout 3's world.”

Gameplay-wise, the Pitt will bring a large dungeon-type area, which will consist of an abandoned steel yard, and a settlement divided into two halves, Downtown, which is occupied by slaves, and Haven, which is inhabited by the masters. Your quests will make you interact with the Raiders that weren't as friendly towards you in the retail title and you'll have to take on the role of a slave in order to investigate a presumed cure for mutation.

All in all, The Pitt seems to offer quite a lot of new things, including weapons and side quests. Hopefully, we'll get to see the ravaged sight of Pittsburgh in March, when it is launched by Bethesda.
