No more than one month

With Operation: Anchorage already out and probably completed by most of those who have downloaded it, Fallout 3 fans are eagerly awaiting to receive the other two pieces of downloadable content Bethesda announced for the game. Unfortunately, players will have to wait a while longer, as the developers have announced a one-month delay on all new content.

Pete Hines, who is the vice president of marketing at Bethesda, said that “The next DLC for Fallout 3, The Pitt, will be out in March. Broken Steel will be out the following month, in April.” No clear reason was given for the delay, but the ambitious nature of the DLC probably means that Bethesda needs a few more weeks to make sure that the content it delivers meets players’ expectations.

In March, Fallout 3 fans will be able to play through The Pitt, as they join a faction in the ruins of Pittsburgh. No other details are currently available but we'll know more as February progresses.

The really interesting content is set to arrive one month later, in April, when Bethesda plans to release Broken Steel, the most ambitious of the DLC. It will offer both a new storyline and it will rise the level cap that the player’s character can reach to Level 30, up from the current Level 20. In an effort to address complaints from players, Bethesda is also aiming to allow gamers to play after the end of the main quest.

In Broken Steel, players will join up with the Brotherhood of Steel as they mop up the Enclave troops that have invaded the Capital Wasteland. Considering the fact that it all takes place after the end of the original storyline, we might also see the effects of the final choice the player makes in Fallout 3.
