Only in North America

It seems that August 2009 will be remembered as the month when pretty much all the big games got a delay. Starcraft II is now set to arrive in early 2010, Dragon Age: Origins has been pushed back by Electronic Arts, and EA Sports is now joining the ranks of the developers that aim to disappoint by announcing that FIFA 10, the title seen as the gold standard when it comes to simulating the beautiful game, will be arriving in October 20 on the North American market.

Initially, the company stated that the game would be released on October 2 everywhere in the world. It seems that the delay is only aimed at the North American market but an announcement saying that it is world wide could come at any point.

In an effort to appease fans that will indisputably be disappointed, EA Sports has also unveiled that a region-specific cover has been designed for North America. England super star Frank Lampard, who is featured on all the covers of the game, is joined by two players from the leagues of America: Cuauhtemoc Blanco of Chicago Fire and Sacha Kljestan of Chivas USA.

Blanco is noted as being Most Valuable Player for five seasons in the Mexican Premier League and All Star twice in the Major League Soccer, while Kljestan is the MVP of the Chivas USA team. Both players have the star power to attract a bigger number of new buyers to the franchise than established European stars.

FIFA 10 was developed by the EA Canada studio and is set to be launched on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Nintendo Wii, the PC, the PS2, the PlayStation Portable and the DS. The game will likely be one of the best sold sports titles this year.
