EA Sports, the division of Electronic Arts that deals with franchises like Madden NFL, NBA, NHL, has confirmed that it plans to release FIFA 10, the newest game in the long running football simulation, on October 2.

That date will see the title get versions for the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii, the PlayStation 2, the PC, the Nintendo DS, the PlayStation Portable and even mobiles. Basically, if you have an electronic device bought within the last five years, you can probably get FIFA 10 to run on it, which is quite impressive for a sports simulation.

Andrew Wilson, who is the vice president and executive producer for all the FIFA franchises, stated that “We have benefited from 275 million games played online to refine FIFA 10 in a way that matters most to our fans. We’ve listened and responded to their feedback to improve player control, responsiveness and intelligence and create what we believe is the world’s most authentic football videogame.”

Apart from the usual graphical upgrade that brings the series ever closer to realism and the database update that will see players have the stats they possess in real life on the pitch, FIFA 10 is also getting some gameplay enhancements that are set to bring the simulated beautiful game closer to the real one.

EA Sports is saying that all balls lofted forward will not have better balance, through passes have more chances of succeeding, more intelligent goalkeepers, and a new dribbling system that allows players more freedom to get around the opposition and score.

Players that plan on picking up FIFA 10 should be advised that, while the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game are pretty similar, the Nintendo Wii game is pretty different, somewhat more complex and with more stylized graphics. The handheld and mobile versions of the football game also lack some of the features that appear on home consoles and PCs.
