Mobile phone maker Samsung should have its third Galaxy S device launched on the United States market before the end of this month, when Sprint would make the Samsung Epic 4G available for purchase on its airwaves.

Although one of the most appealing mobile phones on the market today, the Galaxy S does have its faults, and one of them would be related to the GPS receiver packed inside it.

The already released Samsung Vibrant and Captivate reportedly landed on shelves with the said issue, but it seems that Epic 4G won't share the same fate.

While T-Mobile promised a fix for the GPS woes on Vibrant for sometime in September, Sprint would have its Galaxy S phone launched issues free, at least this is what Samsung had to say on the matter.

“We have tested and validated both Network Assisted (indoor) and Autonomous (outdoor) GPS on the Epic 4G,” the mobile phone maker stated, according to a recent article on Engadget.

Moreover, the company also confirmed that it aims at delivering a fix for Vibrant and Captivate next month, with more info on this expected to become available in a matter of weeks.

“With regards to Vibrant and Captivate, we are currently testing software updates which will optimize GPS performance. We expect to be able to make the updates available in September and will communicate more information and download instructions in the next few weeks,” Samsung concluded.

The Samsung Epic 4G is set to make an appearance on Sprint's airwaves come August 31, priced at $249.99 on a two year contract agreement with the wireless carrier and after a $100 mail-in rebate.

The handset was made available for pre-order on August 13, but Sprint announced a few days ago that all pre-order slots are full, and that its customers should wait for the launch day to arrive to get their units.
