Wireless carrier Sprint is close to making a new Android-based 4G-capable device available on its airwaves, the Samsung Epic 4G, and all points out to a real success with the upcoming device, with pre-orders for it being already full. The first Epic 4G units are arriving in Sprint stores, it seems, and the handset already got unboxed, as can be seen in the video below.

It seems that Sprint started moving Epic 4G units to its stores this Monday, which means that many stores might have already received their share.

However, no handset would be sold until August 31, which is the official launch date for the new mobile phone.

All in all, Sprint is preparing the release of this Android device carefully, as it most probably expects for a great deal of customers to assault its stores on launch day.

According to a recent article on Engadget, the week after Epic 4G's release should bring the deployment of WiMAX in Boston, which should sound pretty good for the carrier's subscribers there.

As for the video unboxing available with the mobile phone, it emerged over at androidandme, which says they got their own demo unit to play with.

The smartphone comes with a large touchscreen display, complemented by a five-row QWERTY keyboard, and the support for 4G networks, which would offer enhanced download speeds to its adopters.

The Epic 4G comes with about the same apps and features as other Galaxy S devices do, to which the wireless operator added its own series of Android applications.

Sprint and Samsung would launch the new device into the wild with Google's Android 2.1 OS on board, but they promised Android 2.2 Foryo would arrive on this handset in the near future.

With that Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a fast processor with improved graphics capabilities, and support for fast data transfer rates, the Epic 4G seems set to bring the performance delivered by the Galaxy S family to a new level..
