Major US carrier AT&T has just begun offering the low-budget R225 manufactured by Chinese company ZTE. The mobile phone is now available for $19.99 with the carrier's prepaid GoPhone plan.

The entry-level phone comes with a small 1.8-inches TFT display with 262k colors support and 128x160 pixels resolution. The handset is dual-band GSM 850/1900 network compatible and provides support for email and instant messaging.

The candybar embeds 8MB internal memory, as well as a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 8GB).

AT&T's available GoPhone plan is affordable and a perfect fit for users who wish to avoid a long term contract when they buy a new phone.

The best part of a GoPhone plan is that customers can pay as they go, as the plan does not require annual contract, credit check or commitment.

The latest prices for the GoPhone plans have been announced on October 1st. The revised plans lowered the price for using the Unlimited Daily Talk and Text and Simple Rate plans.

Customers interested in buying an entry-level phone that can be used for voice calls and casual texting such as the ZTE R225 can take advantage of one of the carrier's GoPhone plans.

The Unlimited Daily Talk and Text plan costs $2 per day and includes 200 MB of data.

Simple Plan users are not required to pay any fee; instead they will be paying $.10 per minute for every call. These charges apply for making or receiving voice calls, text or IMs, and picture or video messages.

AT&T is offering a wide range of low to mid-level handsets, new or refurbished, with the prepaid GoPhone plan such as: Nokia 2330, Nokia 2720, Pantech Link, Samsung a777, Sony Ericsson W518a, Samsung Strive, Pantech Pursuit, LG Encore, Pantech Impact, Samsung Solstice, Samsung Flight, Samsung Rugby II and Sharp FX.
